5 Element Acupuncture
The five elements; earth, fire, metal, water and wood exist in everything and everyone. It's based on the idea that we are a microcosm of the macrocosm in nature.
Each element corresponds to different aspects of the individual such as organ systems, functions, emotion, sound and color. For example, the water element is connected to the color blue and is correlated to the kidneys and urinary bladder. These are seen as the waterways of the body that help to transform and excrete waste through the urine. The deeper emotional connections to water are willpower, faith and flow or surrender.
Five element acupuncture uses the lens of the elements (and other diagnostic factors) to determine where there are imbalances in the patient. For instance, someone that exhibits an imbalance of water energy/Qi may have symptoms that manifest physically, such as kidney stones or a urinary tract infection. On an emotional or mental level, imbalanced water can manifest as feeling stuck, stagnant or too fearful.
Treatment can activate and support whole body healing, restoring balance not only physically, but mentally, emotionally and even spiritually as well.
